The Bartered Bride (The Bride Trilogy) - Historical Romance Novel - Perfect for Book Clubs & Vacation Reading

Like other books of this author, I enjoyed the historical facts of life in the 19th century, including trading with the east, pirates, slavery and American ideals versus English traditions. However (spoilers alert), the villains are so wicked and irredeemable that they don't seem real and the fact that the lords who condemn the hero to death can be so easily convinced by false testimony from a criminal and ignore so many facts is also hard to believe. Still, the hero is a wonderful character who I have met before and have rooted for. The heroine is a bit too strong willed and foolish.
